James Lewis Chartered Surveyors was formed in 2009 by James Lewis BSc. (Hons) MRICS FFPWS. We specialise in all types of party wall issues.

James qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1998 and is the Managing Director of James Lewis Chartered Surveyors.
Prior to setting up his own company, James worked in private practice, predominantly at Associate Directorship level gaining a wide level of experience in professional and contract administration related work. James currently specialises in party wall matters and is a member of the Pyramus & Thisbe Club and a Fellow (Chairman of the Surrey Branch) of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors, which are both recognised organisations promoting party wall excellence.

Predominantly covering the London and Surrey geographical areas, our knowledge in this complex field has been recognised by numerous developers, architects and project managers, who have appointed us as their retained party wall surveyor.

The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 provides a statutory framework for preventing and resolving disputes in relation to party walls, boundary walls and excavations near neighbouring buildings.

A Building Owner is an owner of land who is desirous of exercising rights under the Act. Do you need to serve a notice under The Party Wall Act? If you are planning building works then a Notice may be necessary.
An Adjoining Owner is an occupier or owner of land, buildings, storeys or rooms adjoining those of the building owner and for the purposes only of section 6 within the distances specified in that section.
